Title
Land Trusts and Wind Energy; A Partnership in Bat Mitigation
Subject(s)
Description
As wind energy develops new protections for incidental take of species impacted by the structures, there exists a need to mitigate *now* for the creatures impacted. At the state and federal level, requirements exist during the permitting process for energy companies to protect habitat specific to the effected species. Land trusts, and other land management entities, can play a vital partner to create partnerships that benefit people, communities and of course, the species! Learn how Grand Prairie Friends Land Trust has partnered to manage more than 500 acres of mitigation in east-central Illinois.
