Vic Berardi founded the Illinois Beach State Park Hawkwatch in 2000, celebrating their 25th anniversary this year. He is the co-founder of the Fort Sheridan Hawkwatch. He is on the Board of Directors for the Hawk Migration Association of North America and is the chair of the Winter Raptor Survey Program. Throughout the years he has received numerous awards for public education and the conservation of raptors. He has dedicated almost all of his free time to raptor studies and photography. He’s contributed to several raptor related books and gives in person presentations as well as webinars.
Raptor Migration in Northeastern Illinois
My program highlights all species of raptors that migrate in the fall in northeastern Illinois. I also include the best times and places to see hawk migration, some ID advice and any trends that may be evident in our data.
