The rich diversity of habitat types found in southern Illinois offers incredible avian diversity. From cypress swamps and cane breaks, to upland forests, a variety of birds use these habitats during spring migration as well as breeding. Southern Illinois also offers a variety of award-winning foods and entertainment to enjoy a weekend with fellow birders.

Come join us for a weekend birding adventure to southern Illinois including Murphysboro’s Riverside Park, Shawnee National Forest, Trail of Tears State Park and Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge.

NOTE: the van will leave from Springfield at 12:00 p.m. Anyone wishing to leave their cars at IAS HQ and board from there is welcome to do so.

Cost of trip includes transportation by van and five meals (Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and Sunday breakfast) snacks and water.
