The Richard R. and Jean W. Graber Grasslands Land and Water Reserve is a 40-acre tract located south of Newton. The reserve is being restored to native grasses and forbs and will be managed in conjunction with the Jasper County unit of Prairie Ridge State Natural Area, providing critical habitat for 36 endangered, threatened, and other sensitive species. The reserve increases the total acreage of restored grasslands at Prairie Ridge State Natural Area to 1,983 acres. Allowable uses will include bird watching, nature observation and study, scientific research and photography.
Graber Grasslands is located south of Newton, and about 1.5 miles north of the Robert Ridgway Grasslands Nature Preserve.
