A Species of Land Like No Other
Subject(s)
Description
Journey through 400 years of written descriptions of the archetypal oak ecosystems of the Midwest and learn the surprising perspectives early travelers recorded about these unique ecosystems.
Using geology, climate, firsthand accounts, public records and the land itself learn why our current image of savannas and oak woodlands are very different than what these communities originally looked like.
A provocative, entertaining and informative program on the once and future oak communities we are attempting to restore and manage across the Midwest. Learn a bit about acorns, fires, druids and how best to make acorn pancakes along the way.
