John Sprovieri & Regina McNulty

John is president of Kane County Audubon; his wife, Regina, is responsible for publicity and field trips for the club. They have been watching and photographing birds for nearly 20 years. With a life list of more than 2,200 species, they have birded six of the seven continents. They regularly lead guided bird walks and field trips throughout Kane County, the greater Chicagoland area, and the U.S.

When he’s not watching birds, he serves as the chief editor of ASSEMBLY, a monthly magazine covering U.S. manufacturing. Throughout his 40-year career in journalism, he has written for national medical magazines, Chicago-area business and lifestyle magazines, and the Green Bay Press-Gazette. He has interviewed civil rights leaders, pro football players, film stars, members of Congress, and nationally known medical experts.

Regina is a project manager for one of the nation’s largest printing companies.

Spring Migration in Europe: Morocco to Iberia and Beyond

Subject(s)

Description

Just as North America’s birds spend the winter in South and Central America, Europe’s birds overwinter in Africa. The Strait of Gibraltar is one of their primary crossing points to and from the “Dark Continent.” In this photo-filled presentation, John and Regina track the spring migration of raptors, shorebirds, warblers and other species from Morocco to Spain and Portugal.
