Located approximately two miles southeast of Amboy, Green River Lowlands Preserve (GRLP) is made up of a matrix of topographically diverse sand dunes, wetlands, savanna, prairie, sedge meadow and woodlands. Illinois Audubon Society has been protecting land in this area since 2012 and the current total stands at 1,017-acres.
Green River Lowlands Preserve’s unique ecosystems provide refuge for state listed plants and animals. Two parcels within the preserve, Amboy Marsh and Gremel have been dedicated as Illinois Nature Preserves. All of the properties within the preserve have a unique story to tell and we invite you to discover their amazing biodiversity on this adventure.
